The Resistance

There is a resistance in Washington, D.C. now, and it's called the Republican Party. We're outnumbered, outgunned, and fighting an uphill battle against a population that is quickly becoming mostly non-taxpayers. The era of liberty, which requires another R-word that libs don't like...responsibility, is being replaced by the era of handouts, which requires your complacent, docile acceptance of any and every breach of Constitutional protections afforded this nation.

Americans need to be a hell of a lot more discerning in looking at proposed legislation, and they need to look past the words and to actions.

"Don't tell me words don't matter." -- Pres. Obama

Well, Mr. President, don't tell me ACTIONS don't matter. The President has said that he wants to bring in a "new era of responsibility," yet he is proposing, along with House and Senate Democrats, to print $900 billion in free corporate giveaways, and STD prevention, free condoms for kindergarteners, and a plethora of exorbitant government spending programs.

The con artists never tell you that they are about to con you. In Colorado Springs, my current home town, the news reported of an armed burglary that started with a crying woman at an innocent victim's door. She was screaming and crying that she needed to use a phone because her car broke down. As the unwitting victim opened the door to help, her boyfriend, or baby-daddy, or whatever the hell he is, busted through the door, knocking down the victim and holding her family at gunpoint as they ransacked the house. Evil preys on the good intentions of people, and it hopes that you are not paying attention.

Giving corporate bailouts does not mesh with an era of responsibility. In words, President Obama is on the right track. In deed, he is pulling the wool over our eyes, with the help of the mainstream media. How does offering our tax dollars to support abortions overseas usher in an era of responsibility, Mr. President? I fail to see your logic.

On a large scale, we have a Republican party that serves as the resistance. They are the minutemen of our current poilitical era, and they are the last stand we have against an overly oppressive government, hellbent on gaining more power, authority, and getting it's dirty little hands into every aspect of YOUR daily life.

On a smaller, and more important scale, however, we have another resistance within the GOP. This is the resistance of true Conservatives against the mindless sheep who openly call for our leading Conserative voices to shut up so that they can make nice with those who seek to silence us. I've called for Americans to look more closely at the primaries before, and I'm repeating that call now. We simply cannot win an argument against liberal ideology by supplementing our own ideology with theirs. It will not work. It failed in 2006 and 2008, and it will fail again in 2010 unless we do something to act as Conservatives.

To those of you who wear the GOP label, but call for the rest of us to shut up, your days in Congress are numbered. We will pay close attention to the primaries, and you should not be surprised to see many Republicans who have failed to live up to our Conservative principles (who vote for corporate bailouts, who tell the rest of us to shut up, and who acquiesce to the condescension of the liberal establishment) find themselves watching the general elections from home in their proper place as soon-to-be-former Congressmen.

Nancy " The Wicked Witch of the West" Pelosi

Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), Speaker of the House, Representative from San Fransisco, has a brilliant idea, a Windfall Tax on Retirement Income

Adding a tax to your retirement is simply another way of saying to the American people, you're so darn stupid that we're going to keep doing this until we drain every cent from you. That's what the Speaker of the House is saying. Nancy Pelosi wants a Windfall Tax on Retirement Income. In other words tax what you have made by investing toward your retirement. By putting a Windfall Tax on all stock market profits including Retirement fund, 401K and Mutual Funds, you money can be redistributed.

She quotes...' We need to work toward the goal of equalizing income, (didn't Marx say something like this?), in our country and at the same time limiting the amount the rich can invest.'

When asked how these new tax dollars would be spent, she replied: 'We need to raise the standard of living of our poor, unemployed and minorities. For example, we have an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in our country who need our help along with millions of unemployed minorities. Stock market windfall profits taxes could go a long way to guarantee these people the standard of living they would like to have as 'Americans'...'

Still not convinced that the current Democratic Leadership has a Socialist agenda??

The arrogance of assumed mandates

It is clear that President Obama's arrogance over his victory is glaring. When you counter opposition leaders with whom you hope to form a grand bargain for major legislation, retorting "I won" in response to questioning of your proposed economic agenda, you are sewing the seeds of trench warfare.

Obama is steadily showing his arrogance, which is a benign attitude incorporated into his DNA as a Chicago politician. What Obama and Rahm will learn the hard way is that victory does not equal an unquestionable mandate. Unlike single party dominated political geographies like Chicago, Boston, and Cheyenne; Washington forces the intelligent use of political capital. The beauty of 2 party systems is that is prevents ideological domination.

Obama better cool his brazen opulence and tone down his partisan quips if he hopes to gain concessions from the Right. Democrats are not the opposition any longer, they now have to play the friendly bargainer.

2010 Democratic Senate Super-Majority?

Federally elected politicians are successfully re-elected 98% of the time, which makes vacancies and retirements critical to the power players within the two parties.

It is expected today that Sen. Voinovich (R-OH) will announce his retirement in 2010. Along with Sen. Brownback (R-KS) and Sen. Martinez (R-FL) there will be 3 open Republican seats up for election in 2010.

Although there is hope for gains in the House, they probably won't be substantial enough to change the dynamic Democrat majority. Which leaves me with a pessimistic outlook for GOP congressional advances in 2010.

Although, a lot can change in 2 years.

The Nepotism of Democrats

Change you can believe in? or Change you can inherit?

Caroline Kennedy is just another example of the nepotism in politics. It is sadly fascinating to see the hypocrisy of proclamations that the Democrats will break up the "business-as-usual". Really?

How? By appointing, sorry anointing successors to power? I get it, politics is a family business. But, this presumptive birthright to power sickens me. This isn't new but seems to be reaching an all time low. Teddy was just as unqualified to be a Senator as Caroline is today. When a former first lady and junior Senator is somehow the most experienced candidate from your party, you have to ask if there is a problem. When cousins are elected to the Senate in neighboring states in the same year, you have to ask if there is a problem. When a Senate seat is vacated and the first right of refusal goes to that Senators son, you have to ask if there is a problem. When a career philanthropist is "offered" a Senate seat because of her last name, you have to ask if there is a problem. There are thousands of examples.

Draw whatever comparisons you like, but is it really possible for someone to think that Caroline Kennedy is more qualified than Sarah Palin to hold any political office?

Rick Warren is the head pastor of the Saddleback Church in California. An Evangelical who opposed Prop 8 in CA and has been more left-leaning than most Evangelical Christians, is an enemy of the gay rights movement. Others are calling it his first "big" political mistake.

Its time for another edition of Dem vs. Dem

It is entertaining to watch the Democrats eat each other over the NY Senate seat. While advocates of Caroline Kennedy prop her up as the rightful "Heiress" to the thrown, her credibility is getting chopped off at the knees. Are they seriously questioning her experience for a Senate seat after all the work she has done as a "community organizer"??

You know Bill and Hill are somehow behind the assault against her. Remember, she was the one who convinced Teddy to endorse Obama as the next JFK early in the primaries when he needed it. Clintons don't forget. They, or people close to them, are surely supplying the axes for the gleeful wielding press. This is a War within the Democratic party between the Kennedy clan and Clinton clan. The Clinton's lost the election battle but not the war.

Who has the bigger gun??

Democrats using good old Bait & Switch tactics

For anyone who thinks that these bailouts will not nationalize in some way the private banking, auto, mortgage, etc. industries, think again!

As we hear calls for more "bailouts" to save these uncompetitive companies, we simultaneously hear Democrats clamoring for greater "oversight" of the issuing of the bailout money. It has even been suggested that we need a Car Czar.

Now I'm with all of you, there should be accountability for how the money is spent and who receives it. But I fear that the Republicans are oblivious to the bait & switch tactics at play. The Democrats are appealing to the reasonable conscience when requesting greater oversight. However, this power can be manipulated and abused.

Take the idea of a Car Czar:

• Where does his or her authority end?
• Is it solely in the administration of the money or does it extend to efficiency standards, labor contracts, product placement, green technology, etc.?
• Even if limited to the money, what are the contractual terms governing issuance?
• Can the Car Czar withhold bailout money from a car company that isn't meeting fuel efficiency targets or meeting union benefit demands?
• Can the Car Czar set precedent across the entire U.S. auto-manufacturing industry or is he or she limited to the Big 3 under the Bailout agreement?
• Can the Car Czar impose on other auto-manufacturers the uncompetitive labor requirements that the Big 3 have subjected themselves to?
• Does the Car Czar have authority over import tariffs on foreign owned auto-manufacturers?

These are all questions that need to be asked when Democrats invoke oversight privileges. This may not be a revolution, but the slow coalescing of control over market independence. Government oversight in the hands of ideological soldiers spawns into nationalized control of industry, that's Socialism. It is up to those who oppose this future to keep them in check, challenge their expansion of power, and educate the public on the subversive goals of their actions.

Guilt by Association, Blagojevich fallout

With the arrest of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, the U.S. is once again getting exposed to the corrupt Chicago political machine. Blagojevich could very likely be the 4th IL governor convicted of a felony!! Don't get me started on the Daley clan.

Obama was able to coat his image with Teflon through the campaign. His opponents in the primary and general election never really got his past discrepancies to stick to him. Aided by a beloved media Obama ducked and weaved his questionable associations with Ayers, Wright, Rezcko, etc. All of that has not disappeared. Take a lesson from the Clintons Barack, your past is always looming, waiting for the day to re-emerge from the shadows when you least expect it and kill or maim your political ambitions.

While the U.S. Attorney was quick to cite that the Obama campaign and President-elect himself have not been associated directly with Blagojevich's conduct, yet! There will certainly be considerable damage to the Obama presidency and administration. Illinois politics is a tight circle of cronyism, even if not directly involved we will watch as many of those that Barack is bringing with him from Chi-town to be involved.

I'm not convinced that Obama or those very close to him have not been involved. ABCNews replays a FOXNews interview where Obama's senior campaign advisor, David Axelrod, states that Obama was speaking directly with the Gov. on candidates for his replacement. They are backpedaling hard on this. Unfortunately for them, this will be very difficult, even for them, to rewind.

Boehner's strategy captured in a recent memo, in which he plans to highlight corruption among Democrats in the coming years as a way to strike at the foundation of their parties' revitalized brand. This is the tip of the iceberg. A word of caution, don't throw stones in a glass house. Boehner better make sure that the Republican house is clean too.

Dem vs. Dem

I think it is most appropriate to begin the saga of Dem vs. Dem by including the first Spy vs. Spy cartoon. How entertaining is it that the new "unified" Democratic party is poised to implode...?

Like the cartoon, they are happy fellows working in unison. But that fellowship is built on distrust and disjointed agendas. This will be more fun to watch then the Barack feeding frenzy as the Liberal Left turns on him!!

Get to know your DEM Senators

As a follow-up to my previous post; Get to know your GOP Senators, I wanted to provide the same information on the Democratic Senators. So I gathered the data on all 56 known Democratic Senators in 2009, plus the 2 Independents that caucus with the Democrats, minus Obama and Biden, and left the remaining 2 races outstanding.

This first image shows all 58 DEM and Ind. Senators listed alphabetically by state. I've added data on their last election, margin of victory, the winner of that state in the 2008 Presidential election, the Presidential margin of victory in 2008, their next election, the year they were elected/appointed, the number of years in the Senate, and their American Conservative Union (ACU) Rating. http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=dgh6x7fv_104fxd8t6qs

Second, I wanted to understand who some of the future leaders are going to be. I applied the same filtering as my GOP analysis; by those who had an ACU rating less than 10%, been in the Senate for 8 years or more. That generated the following 9 names. This is a scientific approach and does not include personality and leadership traits.

Assuming Clinton gets pulled for SECSTATE, there are a couple of others who stick out. The CA twins, Dick Durbin, and Chuck Schumer have all exerted themselves as sponsors of key legislation, leadership on key committees, and leadership roles behind the scenes. All 9 are in heavy Democratic states so they face little threat of running a liberal agenda. Chuck Schumer would be my one-to-watch. He chaired the re-election committee this year and is an assertive voice. He hasn't had a job outside of politics since starting as a NY Assemblyman at the age of 23. Finally look ahead to 2010 for opportunities it appears that Republicans will be on the defensive again. Salazar (CO) had the narrowest margin of victory in his 2004 win over Coors, but CO is becoming a strong Democratic state. Feingold (WI) who won by 11%, but would be a tough win. Lincoln (AR) presents a good opportunity in a state trending GOP, but sadly the Arkansas Republican party failed put up a challenger to Pryor (AR) this year when he seemed like a logical target. Many of the others are stalwarts who've won sizable victories in their past elections. Dodd (CT) has low approval ratings since the financial crisis, but would likely be replaced by a Democrat or would run as an independent like Joe Lieberman. Barack's vacant seat in IL will be up in 2010, but would be a difficult state to find a good GOP candidate. Maybe Dennis Hastert!

BREAKING NEWS: Barack not in Hawaii

Last night CNN reported breaking news that Barack was taking a few days away from the campaign to fly to Hawaii to be near his ailing grandmother. Reports are coming in that he is not in Hawaii but Hollywood taping Season 3 for VH1's The Pickup Artist.

Apparently the hosts of the show, seduction artist Mystery (Erik von Markovik), and his wingmen, Tara and Matador, have been astounded by Barack's talents with the potential voters that they have hired him as a consultant.

Barack, never being one to turn down campaign donations or the spotlight, jumped at the opportunity to display his inner Don Juan. Full details have not been disclosed but leaks of episode themes have started to hit the internet.

Some episode examples:

• Barack and Mystery train the young apprentices how to swoon young college co-eds into a grass-roots voter registration scheme.
• Barack and Mystery train the young apprentices how to be suttle but expeditious in relieving the weary workers of the weight of their paychecks while engaging them with deceptive oratory about "the greater good".
• Barack and Mystery train the young apprentices how to scare up support for universal healthcare among the elderly through frequent disturbing visits to retirement homes. All while avoiding comparisons to the failed VA medical system, inaccessible European systems, and any reference to the fines imposed on those who can't afford the mandated coverage (ahem Massachusetts).
• Barack and Mystery train the young apprentices how to manipulate the various media outlets into a surrogate of their choosing. They start with the easy targets, the big U.S. TV networks. The challenge continues to become more difficult as the encounter radio and the internet. The winner of the challenge must be able to silence dissension across all media channels and impose a fairness doctrine.

Barack has good pick up lines; can he score?

As Jay Cost from RCP examines in the link below; Barack doesn't have a history of being a solid closer. Most elections tighten in the polls at the end. Jay uses 2000 as an example where Gore covered 5.5 points in the final week. McCain can do this despite the long odds. He can't afford any other mistakes.













RE: the EC maps. RCP currently is showing a 286-155 BO lead with 97 as toss ups. McCain needs to hold all of the tossups and turn VA and CO or NM. Or turn CO And NM and not VA.
