Guns, not cameras, prevent crime!

The University of California has just completed a study on the efficacy of San Francisco's numerous surveillance cameras. The result: they have no effect on crime. (Read it here) That's the liberal response to a criminal element...put up cameras while making gun ownership all but impossible.

Here's the American response, straight out of Kennesaw, Georgia! This Georgia town mandated that all homeowners MUST possess a firearm to protect their property. There are a few exceptions for religious objections, etc, but by and large, this Southern town took criminals to task. Lawful citizens back in 1982 said to criminals, "come and get it" and crime dropped by 74% the first year! Since passage of the law, there have only been 3 murders to date...two of them committed with knifes.

The socialists-liberal agenda wants to control the citizenry, seeing only numbers, not individuals. By restricting our rights to gun ownership, they are effectively removing our self-reliance, and placing it firmly in the hands of government. Public schools preach a reliance on the government as if it were Gospel, and endless public service announcements, liberal Hollywood productions, and writings tell us that the proper response is to sit and wait for the police (i.e., the government) to take care of our problems. Police do not prevent crime, citizens do. The police are vital to a civilized society, but only in the fact that they capture known criminals, and investigate past crimes. An officer will do a nice job of drawing a chalk outline around your body for you, but a Colt 9mm will probably keep you alive during a home invasion.

The results of the UC study shouldn't really be a surprise to anyone. Criminals think in the immediate present, with no regard for future or near-future consequences of their actions. A camera presents a far-off future possibility to a criminal, much less important than the immediate gratification of taking your money or your life. A Saturday Night Special out of the purse of a would-be victim...now that presents more of an immediate concern for the bonehead criminals!

The answer to almost any problem in a free society is to create MORE freedom, not less. Many of our problems revolve around our lack of true freedom (e.g., gun restrictions in areas of high crime, government intervention in the free markets in the form of institutions like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, etc). McCain called it, Ukraine is next on Russia's list

McCain called it after Russia's invasion into sovereign Georgia. They are making attempts to cripple the Ukrainians, deter their democratically elected government, and recently announced that they will be cutting off natural gas supplies.

McCain said it, watch Ukraine and the Baltic states.

Georgia & Minnesota update

Congratulations to Senator Chambliss on his impressive 57.4% to 42.6% win yesterday! Welcome back for your second term. Thank you for your commitment to Conservative principles (94.19 ACU rating) and your continued fight for them in the coming years.

Coleman's lead is now at 303 votes after Franken picked up 37 unexpected votes from 171 previously uncounted ballots.

Franken got another boost when Minn. Secretary of State Mark Richie (D) asked local officials to examine the previously rejected absentee ballots (approx. 12,000). This includes the 1,000 ballots that the Franken campaign has been fighting to get recounted claiming they had been improperly rejected.

With 93% of the vote recounted, it appears the Franken is gearing up for the legal end-game in which he hopes to sway the outcome with absentee ballots and the almost 6,000 challenged ballots from the recount.

This is going to drag on for a long time!

Georgia & Minnesota

Georgians, get out and vote.

Minnesotans, get counting.

Coleman is now up by 340 votes with 92% of the ballots recounted. It is unlikely that Franken will overcome this margin with the 8% remaining given the % of votes that have been changed among those counted.

It all comes down to the challenged ballots that each campaign has filed. Currently Coleman has challenged 3,050 ballots and Franken has challenged 2,573. Franken needs a greater percentage of his challenges won than Coleman to win. This will be a legal battle bonanza!!

If you're a GA resident, get out there and place your vote for Sen. Chambliss. We still don't know the status of Minnesota, but rest assured, putting Chambliss in office can either signal the first shot of the Conservative revolution, or possibly complete the 60 vote majority Democrats have been hoping for.

Knowing a little something about the state of Georgia, I will tell you that I'm confident in a Chambliss victory. Democrats are still high on the Obama euphoria, and they don't have much to get out and vote for. Republicans, on the other hand, can at least deflate the tires of the Obama express, slowing it down enough for us to make a few points while we get railroaded in the legislature. A filibuster-proof 60 vote majority in the Senate is simply dangerous. I believe a landslide victory by Chambliss (55-45%) will still prove to be a small victory for Conservatives on the national scale, but it will be the first of many to come.

It's time to jam up the cogs of liberal government...with some good old fashioned dissension! Conservative voices need to be 1) Conservative, and 2) heard.

Georgia and Minnesota

Aside from the obvious fact that Georgia and Minnesota are extremely important to our readers, as I am from Georgia, while JCB is from Minnesota, the balance of power of our government may rest with those 2 states. With Ted Stevens losing in Alaska by a close margin, the Democrats will enjoy 58 seats in the Senate before MN and GA decide on their Senators. If the Republicans were to lose both of these seats, the consequences would be even more devastating than we imagined. A filibuster-proof majority in the Senate would basically render any futile attempt at GOP opposition pointless, muting the voice of roughly half of all Americans who think as Conservatives.

JCB, you’ll have to get something going up in Minnesota! The Frankendorks are marching in unison right towards a Senate seat theft, up north! Georgia, now that Obamania is hopefully over, perhaps you’ll do what you should have done in the first place, and re-elect a Conservative in Saxby Chambliss! I believe Chambliss will win with over 60% of the vote, and if so, it will mark the opening shot in the war of ideology by Conservatives. People are getting the idea that $75/hour union labor may not be the best thing for our country, and it is causing our nation a lot of grief. People understand that government intervention, in the name of fairness and the common good, has done nothing more than to cause our credit system to crumble. Higher taxes on productivity send jobs to more business friendly nations (can you believe we are no longer a business friendly nation?), and people are justifiably worried about jobs.

We can win Minnesota and Georgia, and thus begin the movement towards
Conservative principles. The great purge has begun, and it’s time to move in the right direction.
